News Roundup: Post-Carnival Reflection and a Tragic Accident

Welcome to this week's news roundup, covering a range of topics from personal reflection to tragic events. Let's dive in.

Post-Carnival Reflection: A Time for Change

Carnival is over, and the new year is truly underway! This is the perfect time to reflect on your love life and sexuality. Consider making plans that bring more pleasure, balance, and well-being into your life. Perhaps it's time to gain courage and make that turnaround you've been longing for – in other words, to start a new cycle. Our 'start of the year' column offers some tips to guide you on this journey.

The first tip? Pause and conduct a deep self-examination. Look within. How do you feel? What do you notice about yourself? What does your intuition say? How are your thoughts regarding the way you've been managing your love and sexual life?

As the article suggests, "It might also be time to encourage yourself and put things into practice, like making that turnaround you have been wanting."

Hannah Arendt and the Past

One of our contributors has been deeply engaged in reading Hannah Arendt since April 2024. This exploration is part of an effort to formulate a new research project focusing on the relationship between literature and philosophy. Arendt's insights offer a fresh perspective on how we relate to the past and its influence on the present.

The Limits of Money: What It Can't Buy

Money buys a lot. It buys valuable goods, access to special places, beauty, and even friends. In some cases, it buys opinions and followers. In the capitalist world we live in, money increasingly buys almost everything. But there are still things money can't buy.

As one of our bloggers notes, "there are many people willing to sell even what they hold dear – their family, their soul – and only refrain from selling their ethics because they don't even understand what it means." While money can buy influence and possessions, it cannot buy true ethics or genuine connection. The article subtly contrasts this with what a celebrity like Bruna Marquezine symbolizes, hinting at values beyond material wealth.

Tragic Bus Accident on Dutra Highway

In tragic news, a bus carrying 45 passengers fell off a cliff at km 98 of the Presidente Dutra highway in the early hours of Thursday (6). Twenty-five people were injured, and, sadly, one person died after being rescued. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.
