It's been a busy few weeks in the tech world, with new gadgets and updates hitting the market left and right. From smartphones to gaming GPUs to smart home devices, there's something for everyone. Let's dive into some of the highlights.
Engadget's Review Roundup
Engadget recently celebrated its 21st birthday and marked the occasion with a roundup of recent product reviews. Among the devices put through their paces were some highly anticipated releases.
First up, the iPhone 16e. Apple's new "budget" phone aims to provide an affordable entry point into the Apple ecosystem. While it boasts solid performance, long battery life, and a great display, reviewers noted some drawbacks. "In my week or so with the iPhone 16e, I felt the drawbacks of the camera the most — I can live without MagSafe and the Dynamic Island," writes Cherlynn Low. Still, the phone offers fast performance and a clean design.

Gamers will be interested in the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. This new GPU offers a nice upgrade for 4K gaming. "I knew it would be a tad faster than the 4070 Ti Super, but with the addition of multi-frame generation, it's also a far more capable 4K card," says Devindra Hardawar. The RTX 5070 Ti is also more future-proof thanks to its 16GB of VRAM.
Sony also released the A1 II mirrorless camera. While it's arguably Sony's best mirrorless option yet, reviewers found it to be a mild upgrade over the A1. "The innovation that Sony is known for is lacking here, and on top of that, the A1 II is very expensive," explains Steve Dent. The camera also lags behind competitors like the Nikon Z8 and Z9 in video performance.
More Tech News: TCL and Ecobee
Beyond Engadget's reviews, other tech companies have been making moves. TCL recently expanded its TCL 60 series with four new handsets, each designed for a specific use case. The TCL 60 series was initially unveiled at CES 2025.

For the smart home enthusiasts, the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Essential is now available for $130. This affordable thermostat shares many of the same features as the more expensive Premium and Enhanced models. The product debuted at CES 2025.
"The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Essential offers a great balance of features and affordability, making it a compelling option for anyone looking to upgrade their home's climate control."
It's clear that the tech world is constantly evolving, with new products and innovations emerging all the time. Stay tuned for more updates and reviews as we continue to explore the latest gadgets and trends.
